Jack Duain Melton

Jack Duain Melton Sr., 84, of Chickamauga GA, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 15th, 2026. He was born in Victoria, TN, on February 15th, 1942. A son of the late Woodrow Melton and Ethel Jackson Bell.

Mr. Melton was retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service and then retired from Chattanooga City school system after 20 years. Mr. Melton has lived in North GA since 1980 and is a member of the Chickamauga First Baptist Church, Rossville Masonic Lodge #397, and the Alhambra Shrine, where he was a member of the Hillbilly unit. Mr. Melton was proceeded in death by his loving wife Joyce Janow Melton. Survivors include his children Jack (Aimee) Melton Jr. and Melissa Holcombe; Sisters Carolyn Holloway, Rhonda Buckner and Lisa Stewart; grandchildren Morgan Darnell, Grace Davenport, and Adeline Davenport; and one great grandson Tucker Lee Darnell.

A funeral honoring the life of Mr. Jack Melton will be held at 12 Noon, Friday, in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at the Chattanooga National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital at 110 Conn Terrace Lexington, Kentucky 40508. The family will receive friends from 5-8 Thursday, at Heritage Funeral Home & Crematory Battlefield Parkway.
