Janie Cross Heming James

Janie Cross Heming James, age 89, resident of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, May 17,2026 at NHC, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Mrs. James, daughter of the late Ben Cross and Ora Stone Cross, was born August 28, 1936 in Ducktown, Tennessee. She was Baptist by faith and worked for Express Trucking for several years. Mrs. James enjoyed gardening, sewing, and listening to Southern Gospel music. The family remembers her as a lady who enjoyed reminiscing about things that happened in her childhood before she married.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Elmer Lee Heming; second husband, Jimmy Ray James; daughter, Veronica Heming; son, Ben Heming; sisters, Sue Cole and Sarah Moses; and great-grandson, Carter Norris.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Jane Heming and Debbie Linzey; one son, Paul (Sharon) Heming; six grandchildren, Joshua Palmer, Matt Linzey, Amy McWhorter, Jessica Kendrick, Samantha Jackson, and Grant Heming; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; many other relatives and friends.
Graveside services are scheduled at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery, 3585 TN-68, Turtletown, Tennessee on Saturday, May 23,2026 at 1pm.
