Jeremiah “Jimmy” Nez
July 23, 1974 - May 8, 2026

With heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of Jeremiah “Jimmy” Nez, age 51, of LaFayette, a man who never met a stranger and never let anyone leave without feeling welcomed, valued, and loved. He was truly the life of the party—full of laughter, stories, and a personality that could light up any room. Whether you knew him for years or just a few minutes, he had a way of making you feel like family.

A devoted and faithful Tennessee fan, he proudly cheered on the Vols through every season, always wearing his orange with pride. His passion for Tennessee football was only matched by the love he had for his family.

More than anything, he cherished his children and adored his grandchildren. They were the center of his world, and he loved every moment spent making memories with them, sharing stories, laughter, and unconditional love.

He also found joy in connecting with people through his Facebook lives. To many, those moments became more than just videos—they were a source of laughter, friendship, encouragement, and community. He had a gift for bringing people together and making others feel seen and included.

One of his greatest passions was creating and selling his homemade pickled foods. He took pride in his recipes and loved sharing his creations with others. What started as a hobby became another way for him to connect with people—through conversations, laughter, and jars filled with something made straight from the heart. His pickling creations became something many people looked forward to and will always remember him by.

Though his absence leaves an emptiness that can never truly be filled, his legacy of kindness, humor, love, and connection will live on in the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and always loved.

He dedicated 18 years of faithful service to the City of Lafayette, where he worked from 2001 to 2019, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and the community through his hard work, commitment, and unwavering dedication.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Beatrice and James Penson, and Vera and Jack N. Nez.

Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Stacy; daughters, Megan (Patrick) Griffin, Brandy (Ryan) Lowe, and Keisha Fulton; grandchildren, Sawyer, Arya, and Sadie; parents, Martha Nez and Jarol E. “Jerry” Nez; brother, Josh (Ashley) Nez; stepsisters, Jamie Ownby and Amanda Wallin; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Shane Harris officiating.

A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

A private burial of Jimmy’s cremains will take place at a later date at the LaFayette City Cemetery.
