September 3, 1939 - November 16, 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joan E. Phillips who left us peacefully in her bed at home at the age of 85 on November 16, 2024. Born on September 3, 1939 in Jacksonville, FL, she lived a life full of love, dedication, and kindness.
A devoted wife to her husband, John Franklin Phillips, Joan Phillips was a pillar of strength and a loving mother to three children: Christopher Gordon (Teresa) Phillips, Mark Wilfred (Joy) Phillips, and Timothy John (Vee) Phillips. She took immense pride in raising her family and supporting them through every stage of life. Her children were her greatest joy, and she was fiercely proud of the individuals they became.
Throughout her life, Joan Phillips was known for her generosity, warmth, and nurturing spirit. Whether it was through her role as a mother, grandmother, or friend, she always made those around her feel special and cared for. Her home was a haven of comfort, and her kitchen was often filled with the scents of homemade meals, which she lovingly prepared for family and friends.
In addition to her family, Joan was deeply involved in her community, and always looking for ways to make a positive difference. Her faith, integrity, and sense of humor were a source of inspiration to everyone who knew her.
Joan Phillips is survived by her three children, Chris, Mark, and Tim Phillips, brother Walter (Greta) MacPherson and Sister Beverly MacPherson (Morris) McDowell, grandchildren Madi Phillips (Mathew) McDonough, Andrew Phillips, Ryan Phillips and Anna Phillips, Nieces, Nephews, and cousins and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her Father Wilfred MacPherson, Mother Almeda Helen Nichols MacPherson, Brother-in-laws Floyd and Jimmy Phillips and Donald Fredrick Oliver.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at Chattanooga National Cemetery on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 12:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Oakwood Christian Academy, 113 Oakwood St. Chickamauga, GA 30707 or Lookout Cemetery Maintenance, send donations to Floyd Hisey at 154 Carlock Circle, Chickamauga, GA 30707 in memory of Joan E.
