John Houston Holmes, age 78, of Ringgold, Georgia passed away on Monday, December 9, 2025. He was a lifelong resident of Ringgold and worked with Catoosa County Road Department for many years. John was an avid fisherman and enjoyed tinkering. He was a loving brother, father and Papa.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Gordy Holmes; parents, RC Holmes Sr. and Josie Mae Shannon Holmes; brother, RC Holmes Jr.
John is survived by his children, Angela Hawley, Kenny (Ann) Holmes, Jay (Teaquila) Holmes, Wendy (Gary) Leech, Angela (Elvis) Locke; siblings, James Holmes, Charles (Paulet) Holmes, Eugene Holmes, Fannie Mae Jamison, Geneva Holmes; grandchildren, Justin and Madison Locke, Savannah Outlaw, Zoey Bates, Daniel and Riley Hawley, Katelynn Campbell; great grandchildren, Theo Locke, Gabriel, Carter, and Grayson Campbell, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2024 at Gordy Cemetery with Pastor Jim Bennett officiating. Online guest book at www.wilsonfuneralhome.com.
