Judy Faye Cothren
June 13, 1957 – July 20, 2026
Judy Faye Cothren, 69, of Rock Spring, Georgia, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2026. Judy was born in LaFayette, Georgia on June 13, 1957, to Joseph and Doris Guffey. She was a lifelong resident of the Northwest Georgia area and spent many years of her life as a homemaker raising her family. Judy loved her family. She always enjoyed having a spotless house and spending time cooking for her family. She took great joy in watching her family enjoy the meals she prepared for them and spending time with each of them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Judy was a strong woman who overcame many struggles in her life. Several weeks ago, she realized the main struggle in her life was a sin debt that she could not pay and she needed a savior. Judy asked Jesus to forgive her of her sin and to be her Lord and Savior and He gloriously saved her. We know that today Judy is with Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Judy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother but most of all a new Child of the King. We dearly miss her here but we know we will see her again!
Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Danny Cothren; her parents, Joseph F. and Doris Imogene Guffey; and her brother, Russell Guffey.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Danny Lee (Julie) Cothren of Rock Spring, Georgia, Tammy Marie (Michael) Dabbs of Bryant, Alabama, Joy (Jason Armstrong) Edwards of Chickamauga, Georgia, Crystal Leanne (Geoffrey Wade) Cothren of Dalton, Georgia; brothers, Gene (Deb) Guffey of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, Allen Guffey of LaFayette; grandchildren, Chris Cothren, Tabi Cantrell, Heather Vine, Jacob Hickman, Rachel Hickman, Tyler Edwards, Tasha Weede, Austin Edwards, Cayden Brewington, Brayden Brewington, Ethan Wade, Aubree Wade, Grayson Wade, Nolan Wade; fifteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
