Valerie June Gravitt, age 88, of Chickamauga, GA passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Gravitt was born June 18, 1936 to Raymond Mahan and Pearl Walden Mahan on Lookout Mountain, GA. She was of the Baptist faith.
June graduated from Chattanooga Valley High School class of 1956. She was a homemaker and a housekeeper for 40 years to many families on Lookout Mountain. She enjoyed reading, spending time with her family, fishing at Weiss Lake, and shopping.
June was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Gravitt was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Gravitt, and first husband, Jessie Watson; her sons, Roy Mahan and Timothy Powell; five sisters; and two brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Kellie (Kenny) Wilson, Becky (David) Birchfield, and Jan (Tim) Brooks; grandchildren, Molly (Brandon) Suddeth, Sarah (Trevor) Logan, Nick (Courtney) Wilson, Matthew (Heather) Mahan, Josh (Erica) Mahan, MacKenzie (Alicia) Mahan, and Miranda (Evan) Clayton; great-grandchildren, Addi, McKinley, Lilly, Taspen, Landon, Kinzlee, Dawson, Jacob, Lila, and Sophia; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to Cassandra, Ben, and Heather with Hearth Hospice.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, October 5, 2024, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel.
Interment will take place at a later date.
A visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 am until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
