Lewis Stanley “Poppy” Lolley, 66, of Rossville, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 17, 2024. He was born in Apalachicola, Florida, to the late Elbert and Lucille Lolley. Poppy moved from Florida to the Rossville area in 1983 and lived here for the remainder of his life. He was a member of Moriah Baptist Church in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, where he loved his pastor and church family and always enjoyed serving his church family in any way he could. Poppy was known for his kind and generous nature, always ready to lend a helping hand or fix anything. Poppy was a carpenter and a craftsman and enjoyed making items and doing projects for friends and family. He loved his family and grandchildren dearly and enjoyed every minute with them. He loved hunting, fishing, collecting guns and knives with his grandson, camping, everything NASCAR, and anything to do with Chevy trucks. Poppy made great coffee. He was a diehard Trump fan. He enjoyed chilling on the front porch and hunting with his favorite dog, Kain. Poppy was a great family man who dearly loved his family. The family's love for Poppy was deep and unwavering, and he will be greatly missed.
Poppy is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Lewis and Vonnie Lucille Lolley; brother, Alex Lolley; uncle, Johnny Kent; and niece, Erica Craycraft.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of forty-nine years, Maylea “Nan” Michal Lolley; children, Joe Lolley of East Ridge, Tennessee, Zach (Karen) Lolley of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, Lee Lolley of Rossville, Georgia, David Lolley of Syracuse, New York, Allie (Tyler) Watts of Ringgold, Georgia, Shelby (Jacob) Anderson of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Luke Lolley of Rossville, Georgia, Matthew Widdifield, and Dusty McMillan; brothers, Lewis “Louie” Lolley of Ashburn, Georgia, and Tommy Lolley of Rossville, Georgia; sister, Becky Goff of Ashburn, Georgia; grandchildren, Alyssa Lolley, Justin Lolley, Shaye Lolley, Nathan Lolley, Brynn Lolley, Hailey Lambert, Cayla and Sunshine, Marcus Lolley, Michael Vanderweide, and Shawn Gale; great-grandchildren, Mason Lolley, Logan Lolley, Lainee White, Gracelynn Palmer, Henry Ingram, Brayden Ingram, River Ingram; and many loved nieces and nephews.
The family has arranged for a time to remember and honor Poppy. Friends and family are invited to join us at Moriah Baptist Church, 2864 Battlefield Parkway, Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia, on Monday, December 23, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 pm. The funeral service, a time to celebrate Poppy’s life, will be held on Monday, December 23, 2024, at 1 pm, with Pastor Randy Lynn officiating. Following the service, we will proceed to Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park, 724 Hogan Road, Rossville, Georgia, for the burial.
