Marilyn K. Ransom

Marilyn K. Ransom of LaFayette, GA, passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, surrounded by family.

She leaves behind a brother, James Lindsey; two children, Patricia Carmody (Kin) and William M. Ransom II (Sharon); her seven grandchildren, Lindsey Carmody, Heather Culberson, Austin Jones, Ransom Jones, John Yauger, Sarah Yauger, and Emma Turner; 12 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kerry E. Ransom and her two daughters, Marilyn Turner and Suzanne Sand.

Marilyn, a retired educator, was recognized for her dedication to books and learning.

Her community service included time as a board member of both the LaFayette County Library and the Care Mission. She also helped found the Women’s Crisis Center and Kids for Christ. She taught Sunday school for 28 years and was an active member of the Historical Society and LaFayette Woman’s Club.

Marilyn spent her life serving God, selflessly sharing her love and kindness with others.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, December 20, 2024, at Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home in LaFayette, Georgia.

The family will receive visitors from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with the service to follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel.

Pallbearers will be Ken Jones, Glen Jones, Rick Smith, Henry Gilbert, Kenneth Jackson, and Bryant Henry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Bunn, Dave Gilbert, George Gilbert, Neal Florence, Larry Martin, and Breck Parker.

A private interment will take place at the LaFayette City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Care Mission, The Cottage, or The Haven.
