Marvin “Tony” Mealer
October 19, 2024

Marvin “Tony” Mealer of LaFayette, GA went to be with the Lord on October 19, 2024. He was 49 years old.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, Joshua Blake Mealer; and his father, Cleaston Mealer. He is survived by his sons, Zachary Mealer and Caleb Mealer; his mother, Donnis Mealer; his sister Angie Mealer (Jody) Ridley; and nephew, Isaiah Ridley.

Marvin was a graduate of LaFayette High School in 1993 and earned his bachelor’s degree through Covenant College. He then went on to serve as a licensed pastor with the Assembly of God and as a chaplain with Hutcheson Medical Center.

He had many interests, including H.A.M. radio in which he was a licensed/volunteer examiner and member of the Dalton, GA club, and was posthumously honored for his service. Music was also a huge part of his life; he played many instruments, but he loved his guitars. And last, but not least, UGA football. I’m sure Marvin would say to Neil Gilbert, Duane Stamper, and Matt Whiteside, “GO DAWGS!”

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, October 23, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Charles Lee officiating and with Pastor William Harris at the graveside.

Interment will take place at LaFayette City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, October 22, at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Wallis-Wilbanks Funeral Home, LaFayette.
