Michael “Mike” Edward Collins

Michael Edward Collins age 65, of Tunnel Hill, Georgia passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Mike was born in Los Angeles, California to the late, James Collins Sr. and Eva Wells Collins on May 27, 1960. He was of the Baptist faith and grew up in Ringgold, Georgia before moving to Tunnel Hill later in life. Mike was a jack of all trades and throughout his life operated many businesses from remodeling, truck driving and, most recently, scrap metal. In 2017, he retired from SOS Express working as a truck driver. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, playing Keno, playing pool and was an avid fisherman. Most of all, Mike loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Mike is preceded in his death by his infant son, Michael Johnathan Collins; his brother, Vernon (Linda) Collins; father-in-law, Dorsey Swafford and brother-in-law, David Swafford, and niece, Angie Teasley
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Diana Swafford Collins; daughter, Jody (TJ) Stephens; sons, Travis Collins and Todd Collins; his granddaughters, Sarah (Zach) Crumbly, Jazlyn Bryson, Iris Roberts; grandson, Joshua Curtis, and great grandchildren, Asher Curtis, Stevie and Samuel Crumbly; his sisters, Linda Green and Brenda (Richard) Herron, brother, James M. Collins Jr., nieces and nephews, Bruce Eva, Leanna, Crystal, Misty, Karen, Jason, Jamie, Chelsey as well as many cousins and extended family members.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, 2026, in the chapel of Wilson Funeral Homes, Wallis–Stewart Chapel. Interment will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
