Mr. Charles Richard RayLaFayette, GA

Charles Richard Ray age 85, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2024. He was born in LaFayette, Georgia, to the late Thomas Howard and Jane Johnson Ray. He lived his entire life in the area in and around LaFayette. He worked as an electrician for E.T. Barwick Mills after graduating from LaFayette High School and then for several years as a successful Insurance Salesman for Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Company before being forced to retire due to illness. Charles was active for many years with the Woodmen Lodge 310. He also enjoyed woodworking and loved working with many different fruit and vegetable plants he grew around his home. He loved helping others in any way that he could, especially fixing things for them. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Second Baptist Church in LaFayette, Georgia. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother: Howard Ray, and sisters: Sally Hensley and Mary Warrenfells. He is survived by his wife of sixty-two years: Bernice Louise Brown Ray of LaFayette, GA, their sons: Charles Samuel “Sammy” (Dineen) Ray of Chickamauga, GA, Terrell Lee “Terry” (Sherry) Ray of Ringgold, GA, grandchildren: Samuel Corey Ray, Benjamin Mathew Ray, Micah Lee Ray, Sarah Emily Ray, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12 noon until 2:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm – Sunday – December 29, 2024 graveside at LaFayette Cemetery with David Baxley officiating. Todd Wright, Keith Bates, Andy Pence, Tom Thomisec, O.J. Miller and Ryan Topolski will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be: John and Carol Lee, Tommy Ray and Francis Hensley.
