May 3, 1930 - July 10, 2026
Betty Jo Morrison Wallace age 96, of Chickamauga, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on Friday evening, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Dalton, Georgia, to the late A.C. "Harvey" Morrison and Virgil Inez Bandy Morrison. Except for her childhood years, Betty Jo spent her life in Walker County, where she built a legacy of faith, hard work, and devotion to her family.
After being widowed at a young age, she courageously raised and provided for her beloved children, demonstrating remarkable strength, perseverance, and unconditional love. Throughout her working years, she was employed by Crystal Springs Mill in Chickamauga, sold Avon for many years, and later worked in the deli at K-Mart in Fort Oglethorpe, where she was known for her friendly spirit and strong work ethic.
Betty Jo was a faithful and devoted member of Chickamauga Church of Christ and dearly loved her church family. She found joy in the simple blessings of life, especially reading her Bible, spending treasured time with her family, tending to her beautiful flowers, and thrift shopping.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Martin "Corn" Wallace; her son, Robert Kenneth "Kenny" Wallace; her great-great-grandson, Kolton Wallace; her sisters, Janet Holland, Glenda Faye Helton, Robbie Sue Campbell, and Mary Lynn Huff; and her brothers, J.B. "Benny" Morrison, Max Morrison, and Jathan Morrison.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Gary (Elaine) Wallace of Newnan, Georgia, Ricky (Carleen) Wallace of Kensington, Georgia, Cecelia "Cissie" (Tony) Gilbreath of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, and Jack Augustus Wallace of Chickamauga, Georgia; her daughter-in-law, Gail Wallace of Rock Spring, Georgia; her brothers, Dwight Morrison of Rome, Georgia, and Dale (Linda) Morrison of Kensington, Georgia; fifteen grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; twenty-one great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, 2026, and from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, 2026, in the chapel with Minister Phillip Burse officiating. Interment will follow in Chickamauga Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Wilson Funeral Homes – J. Avery Bryan Chapel, Chickamauga, Georgia.
