September 15, 1934 - May 26, 2026
Shirley Ann Hall Smith, age 91, of LaFayette, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 26, 2026. A lifelong resident of North Georgia, Shirley was born in Ringgold, Georgia, to the late Barker Hall and Grace Hall. She was a faithful member of Center Grove Baptist Church, where she lovingly served her church family for many years by playing the piano and sharing her love for gospel music.
Mrs. Smith devoted 48 years of her life to educating children as a second-grade teacher at Rock Spring Elementary School with the Walker County Board of Education. Her students, affectionately known as her “Cubbies Kids,” were a treasured part of her life and ministry. Shirley’s gentle spirit, unwavering faith, and servant’s heart left a lasting impact on generations of students, friends, and family members.
Above all, Shirley was a loving and devoted Christian lady who faithfully lived out her testimony through kindness, compassion, and dedication to her family and community. Her life was a beautiful reflection of God’s love and grace.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Betty Trundle, Bill Hall, Ralph Hall, Calvin Hall, Harold Hall, Martha Stallings, Roy Hall, Perry Hall, and James Hall.
Left to cherish her precious memory are her sons, Troy (Barbara) Smith and Mark (Shannon) Smith; grandchildren, Amber Majors, Josh Smith, Holden Smith, Jocob Copeland, and Nicole Webb; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Jean Hall, Lovella Smith, and Margie Smith; along with several nieces and nephews.
