Shirley Gail Carter Guffey, 69, of Chattanooga, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. She was born in Athens, Tennessee on October 20, 1954 to the late, B.W. & Nanny Goodman Carter and had lived in the Chattanooga & North Georgia areas for most of her life. She graduated from Chattanooga Valley High School, Class of 74 and enjoyed singing and spending time with her family & friends. She was a loving and devoted sister, mother, grandmother and friend that will be truly missed by all who knew her. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Edward Carter and 2 sisters, Eva Holloway and Joyce Turnipseed.
Survivors include her daugthers & son-in-law, Samantha Thornton and Sarah Guffey Robison & (Chris); sisters & brother-in-law, Reba Atwood & (Carl) and Ellen Baldwin; 2 grandchildren, Brealynn Dennis and Jackson Dennis; several nieces, nephews and numerous extended family & friends.
A private service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
