Thelma Lee Wilbanks Grigsby, age 94, of West Armuchee, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2024, at her residence.
Ms. Grigsby was born on July 25, 1930, to Emma Bell Hilburn Wilbanks and William Wesley Wilbanks.
Thelma married her husband, Cecil Grigsby, February 9, 1952, and moved to West Armuchee working alongside her husband on the family farm. Ms. Grigsby was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she was actively involved and served in many roles including Sunday School teacher, Hospitality/Social Committee, and Floral Committee.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Cecil Grigsby; sons, Philip Grigsby and Michael Grigsby; parents, William Wesley Wilbanks and Emma Bell Hilburn Wilbanks; sisters, Rachel Teems, Eleanor Cordell, and Ina Mae Wilbanks; and brother, Ray Wilbanks.
Thelma is survived by her daughter, Gayle (Michael) Brannon; son, Charles Grigsby; grandchildren, Jillian (Taylor) Stratton and Daniel (Christy) Brannon; great-grandchildren, Olivia Stratton, Brooks Stratton, and Owen Brannon; sisters, Frances Durham and Barbara Wilson; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, December 4, at Shiloh Baptist Church with Pastors Chuck Romain and Terry Burns officiating.
Interment will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Michael Brannon, Daniel Brannon, Taylor Stratton, Keith McWilliams, Stacy Gray, and Terry Stratton.
Honorary pallbearers are Terry Humphrey and the deacons of Shiloh Baptist Church.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Ardith Ball Building Fund in care of Shiloh Baptist Church, LaFayette.
