Tommy N. Hegwood, age 92, of Rock Spring passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his son, Randall Hegwood; daughter, Tracy Mae Hegwood; grandson, Jeremy Tim Hegwood; great-granddaughter, Haley Renee Dockery; parents, Carl and Grace Hegwood; sisters, Louise Nichols, Christine Jones, Frances Davis, Doris Reagan, Billie Coldwell, Bobbie Gould, and Betty Slatton; brothers, Donnie Ray Hegwood, James Hegwood, Harley Hegwood, Jerry Hegwood, and Jackie Hegwood; and son-in-law, Richard Dockery.
Known by many as “Big Pop”, Tommy was the co-founder of Tom’s Tree Service which he operated alongside his son Kim until his 60-year retirement. He was business oriented and never met a stranger. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and hunting, as well as spoiling his grandkids.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Carolyn Wallin Hegwood; daughter, Pat Dockery; son, Kim (Patricia) Hegwood; seven grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 4:30 pm on Sunday, November 10, at Walnut Grove Cemetery with son Kim Hegwood officiating.
A visitation will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday at the funeral home.
