February 28, 1950 - March 22, 2026
Tommy Paul Lister, 76, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2026, at a local hospital, with his loving family by his side.
Tommy was born in Sylvania, Alabama, and attended Plainview High School in Rainsville, AL from 1964-1968. In 1971, he moved to Rossville, Georgia, where he began a life centered around family, hard work, and the simple joys that meant the most to him. That same year, he married the love of his life, Carol, beginning a devoted marriage that would span 54 years.
Throughout his working years, Tommy was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He worked as a meat cutter at Swift Premium and later spent over 15 years with PVF Suppliers. He retired in 2016 from Pilgrim’s Pride after 17 years of faithful service.
Tommy loved his family deeply, and nothing brought him more joy than spending time with them. His great-granddaughter, Luna, was truly the light of his world. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, tending to his yard, visiting casinos, listening to classic country music, tinkering in his garage, and he was an avid Alabama Football Fan. Tommy also had a love for singing, often sharing that gift with those around him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul and Birdie Willoughby; his mother, Irene Willoughby Lister Marbut; and his sister, Peggy Cowart.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 54 years, Carol Barrett Lister; his son, Jeromy Lister; his grandchildren, Brianna Starr (Jacob) Pemberton and Tristian Paul Lister; his great-granddaughter, Luna Grace Pemberton; two nieces, Christa (Steve) Hawkins and Melissa Hicks; along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Condolences may be shared with the Lister family, and a live webcast of the funeral service will be available at www.lane-southcrestchapel.com
