Virginia Coker, age 91, of LaFayette passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025. She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. Virginia retired in 1996 from Roper Corp. (GE) with 20-plus years of service where she worked as the Shipping Office Manager.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Edward Coker; parents, James Lee Brown and Rose Blaylock Brown; three sisters; and seven brothers.
Virginia is survived by her children, Gwen (late Lamar) Saylors, Donna (Randy) Avans, and Randall (Kathy) Coker; grandchildren, David (Teresa) Saylors, Linda (Michael) Young, Lisa Avans, Lori (Matthew) Hunter, Amber Brooks, LeAnn (Lance) Brown, Nick (McKenzie) Coker, and Jordan (Taylor) Coker; great grandchildren, Morgan (Josh) Bowles, Wade Harris, Micah Young, Sierra Saylors, Isaac Hunter, Ethan Young, Spencer Hegwood, Noel Hunter, Jonah Hunter, Blake Brown, Grant Brown, Kaylee Brooks, Brooks Coker, and Bailey Coker; great-great grandchildren, Leah and Mila Bowles.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 15, in the Wilbanks Memorial Chapel with Pastor Randy Avans officiating.
Interment will take place at LaFayette City Cemetery.
Pallbearers are her grandsons, Nick Coker and Jordan Coker and great grandsons, Wade Harris, Micah Young, Ethan Young, and Isaac Hunter.
Honorary pallbearers are grandson, David Saylors, great grandsons, Spencer Hegwood, Jonah Hunter, Blake Brown, and Grant Brown.
A visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 14, and on Wednesday from 12 p.m. to the hour of service at the funeral home.
