Wayne Cordell

Wayne Cordell, age 88, resident of Chattanooga, Tennessee and former resident of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2026 at his residence.
Mr. Cordell, son of the late Johnnie Albert Cordell and Willie Amilee Cordell, was born June 15, 1938 in Lafayette, Georgia. He began working in construction at a young age and later began a career with the Georgia Forestry Commission where he faithfully worked for over 30 years as a Ranger, where he would sometimes be asked to travel to different states in emergency situations. Mr. Cordell was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church in LaFayette, Georgia. He loved the outdoors, enjoying hiking, fishing, hunting, and camping. He also had a passion of operating heavy equipment. While at home, many would find him watching Fox News, classic western movies and shows, or listening to Southern Gospel music. The family remembers him as man of faith who was always a kind, loving, and giving person.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Kinsey Cordell; and a sister, Joyce Smith.
Mr. Cordell is survived by two sons, Chris Cordell and Brad Cordell; four grandchildren, Daniel (Rachel) Cordell, Christen Cordell, Trenton Cordell, and Zach (Amity) Cordell; five great-grandchildren, Brayden Cordell, River Liam Cordell, Lilly Cordell, Ellie Cordell, and Addie Cordell; many other relatives and friends.
Private services will be held at a later date.
