William Allen Atkins, Jr., age 72, resident of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Monday, April 6,2026 at Common Spirit Hospital, Ringgold, Georgia.
Mr. Atkins, son of the late William Allen Atkins, Sr. and Mary Nell Griffin Atkins, was born February 15, 1954 in Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia. After graduating from high school, he operated Atkins Superette in Rossville for over 15 years. He then began a career installing fireplaces, working for U.S. Stove and later for Neal’s Heating and Air until he retired. Mr. Atkins enjoyed working in his yard and doing handyman projects and improvements at his home. He also enjoyed going to NASCAR races and taking trips to flea markets. While at home, many would find him cooking and grilling for family and friends; watching classic westerns; and spending quality time with his dog Molly. The family remembers him as a man who was always willing to help anyone – and showed full commitment to anything he did.
Mr. Atkins is survived by his wife of 35 years, Belinda Atkins; four children, Tim (Jerresia) Atkins, Billy Jack Hudgins, Michele Atkins, and Kevin Atkins; seven grandchildren, Cameron, Koty, Mariah, Sky, Kaleb, Madison, and Jax; many other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Covenant Life Worship Center, 7001 LaFayette Road, Chickamauga, Georgia 30707 on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 1:00 -3:00 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Chattanooga Heart Institute, 2501 Citico Avenue, Chattanooga, Tennessee 37404.
