Authorities have identified two of the people killed in a crash on Highway 27 on Tuesday. Brennon Beavers, a junior at LaFayette High School and 2024 LHS graduate Cassiddy Mitchell both died in the crash. According to reports Mitchell’s brother Cooper survived the crash and remains hospitalized. Beavers was a member of the LHS football and baseball teams.
LaFayette and Trion are scheduled to play baseball tomorrow night. The game was orginally scheduled to be played at Trion. In a Facebook post yesterday, Bulldogs AD Jason Lanham said Trion has decided that it’s in the best interest of everyone involved to allow LaFayette to honor Brennon Beavers on their home field. The game will be played tomorrow night at Chris Jones Field. The game is set to start at 5:30pm.
Another update on a story from yesterday. The young woman with autism reported as missing yesterday has been found safe. The word came from the Walker County Sheriff’s Office. 18-year-old Hallie Couch was located safe yesterday after she went missing at around 1:30am on Tuesday.
The Walker County Health Department is offering free screenings next week. The check-ups will cover hearing, vision, dental and nutrition. Forms will also be available for school enrollment. It’s happening next Thursday, April 24th, between 1pm and 6pm. It’s happening at the Health Department at 603 East Villanow Street in LaFayette.
