Walker County Prepares for June 17 Special Primary Election for Public Service Commissioner

WALKER COUNTY, GA — Voters in Georgia will head to the polls Tuesday, June 17, 2025, for a special primary election to select Public Service Commissioners for Districts 2 and 3. Although the seats represent specific districts, all Georgia voters are eligible to vote in both races as Public Service Commissioners are elected statewide.

This special election will fill the two Public Service Commission seats through a primary vote, with a general election to follow if necessary.

In Walker County, all 11 voting precincts will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters must cast their ballots at their assigned polling locations if they choose to vote on election day, June 17.

Early voting begins May 27 and runs through June 13 at the Walker County Courthouse, available Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., excluding Sundays. Additional early voting opportunities will be offered at the Chickamauga Civic Center on Saturday, June 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday through Friday, June 9–13, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On the ballot for District 2 are Incumbent Republican Tim Echols, Republican Lee Muns, and Democrat Alicia M. Johnson. District 3 candidates include Incumbent Republican Fitz Johnson, and Democrats Daniel Blackman, Peter Hubbard, Robert Jones, and Keisha Sean Waites.

The deadline to register to vote in this election is May 19. Absentee ballots must be received by mail no later than June 6 or returned by hand by 7 p.m. on Election Day.
