According to the National Park Service, two white males in their mid-20s were observed removing the historic plaques from the site. Witnesses describe both men as having brown hair. One of the individuals was wearing a bright orange shirt resembling those commonly worn by construction workers.
The suspects were seen driving away in a green Ford F-150 pickup truck, extended cab, believed to be a late 1990s or early 2000s model. The vehicle featured a two-tone gray stripe along the lower quarter panels. Notably, the front driver’s side wheel did not match the other wheels on the truck.
