Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 1.1 million vehicles across its Ford and Lincoln brands due to a software issue that could cause the rearview camera to freeze while the vehicle is in reverse, posing a potential safety hazard.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the malfunction can display a frozen image on the screen, offering drivers a false view of what’s behind them — significantly increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall affects several popular models manufactured between 2021 and 2025, including the Ford Bronco, Ford F-150, and Lincoln Navigator.
While Ford has reported just one minor crash related to the issue and no injuries, the company is acting proactively to prevent further incidents.
Owners of affected vehicles will receive a free software update, which can be completed remotely or at a Ford or Lincoln dealership. Notification letters are expected to be mailed out starting June 16.
Vehicle owners can check if their car is part of the recall HERE and entering their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).
Ford encourages drivers to respond promptly once notified to ensure their vehicle remains safe to operate.
