June 30, 2025 | Walker County, GA — A major methamphetamine trafficker will spend the next decade behind bars following a large-scale drug seizure that netted over 40 ounces of meth in Northwest Georgia.
Julie Abigail Manis was sentenced to 20 years, with 10 to serve in the Georgia Department of Corrections, after pleading guilty to Trafficking Methamphetamine and Possession with Intent to Distribute. Her arrest followed a coordinated operation by the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force (DTF) on November 4, 2024.
DTF agents had arranged a controlled drug purchase involving Manis. Before the exchange occurred, agents intercepted her and discovered three plastic bags containing more than 40 ounces of methamphetamine—each bag packaged for distribution.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Lynsay Chapman prosecuted the case, which District Attorney Clayton M. Fuller described as a decisive strike against meth trafficking in the region.
“Bring meth to Walker County, and you won’t leave with your freedom,” said Fuller. “She thought she was making a sale — instead, she bought herself a decade behind bars.”
This conviction is part of the DA’s broader campaign to dismantle methamphetamine networks across Northwest Georgia. According to national data, meth was involved in one out of every three drug overdose deaths in 2021—up from one in four just two years earlier—highlighting the growing danger of the drug’s spread into communities.
