Walker County residents still have three chances this month to share their voices at upcoming town hall meetings. Chairwoman Angie Teems is hosting open forum discussions on local issues and quality of life. The meetings start at 6 p.m. and will be held tonight at the County Administration Building in LaFayette, July 24 at Mt. Pleasant Community Center in Rising Fawn, and July 29 at Center Post Community Center in LaFayette.
Four felony arrest in Walker County on Sunday. Among those charged, 38-year-old Michael Stephen Barnes, faces possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of marijuana and meth. William Clyde Barnes, a 63-year-old, was charged with giving false information to law enforcement, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. At Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s Walker County Campus, students training to become commercial truck drivers are getting a boost. A $1,000 grant from Love’s Travel Stops will provide free driver log books to students in the CDL – Class A program. The grant helps cut costs for students in the 8-to-10-week course, which prepares them for Georgia’s CDL skills exam.
Ford is recalling several 2021 to 2023 models—including the Bronco, Explorer, F-150, and Lincoln Navigator—due to a faulty low-pressure fuel pump that could cause engines to stall while driving.
