ROSSVILLE, GA — A local treasure with a century of smiles and thrills has just received national recognition.
Lake Winnepesaukah, the beloved Chattanooga-area amusement park, was honored Sunday, July 27, by the National Amusement Park Historical Association (NAPHA) for 100 years of continuous family ownership and community enjoyment.
During a special ceremony held on park grounds, NAPHA presented Lake Winnie with a commemorative plaque, celebrating its enduring legacy. Since first opening its gates in 1925, the park has remained under the care of the same family—making it the second longest continuously family-owned amusement park in the United States.
To mark the milestone, guests were treated to exclusive ride time on two of the park’s most iconic attractions—the historic Cannonball roller coaster and the rare Boat Chute—before the formal presentation at 1:00 p.m.
Lake Winnie now joins a distinguished group of just 18 amusement parks nationwide that have received this centennial honor. The award presentation was part of NAPHA’s annual ParkHop tour, which highlights and celebrates the history of America’s amusement parks.
Park officials expressed gratitude for the recognition and emphasized their commitment to preserving Lake Winnie’s legacy for future generations.
“This park has always been about family—from our own to the generations of guests who return year after year,” a Lake Winnie representative said. “We’re proud to have been part of so many memories, and we’re excited for the next 100 years.”
