Drivers in Catoosa, Dade, and Walker counties are seeing some of the lowest gas prices in Georgia this week. The average price at the pump in the tri-county area is $2.78 per gallon, making it the cheapest metro market in the state.  That’s part of a broader trend across Georgia, where the statewide average for regular gasoline has inched up by just one cent over the past week. As of Monday, the average price in Georgia is $2.89 per gallon—still 42 cents cheaper than this time last year.  It now costs the average Georgia driver about $43.65 to fill up a 15-gallon tank, nearly $7 less than a year ago.  Nationally, gas prices have held steady over the past week at $3.14 a gallon, thanks in part to crude oil prices holding around $65 a barrel.  The most expensive spots to fill up in Georgia this week include Savannah at $2.97, Atlanta at $2.94, and Athens at $2.92.
