The Walker County School Board meets this evening at the Advancing Education Center in Chickamauga. On the agenda: celebrating summer graduates and recognizing Ridgeland High School’s baseball team. The board will also hear updates on school facilities, finances, curriculum, and backpack distribution plans for the 2026 school year. Additional topics include the LAUNCH program, a superintendent’s report, and personnel matters during executive session. The meeting starts at 6 PM and is open to the public.
Only one felony arrests in Walker County on Monday. 29-year-old Jonnavious Marsh was booked on two felony counts of making terroristic threats.
Drivers in Catoosa, Dade, and Walker counties are seeing the lowest gas prices in Georgia, with regular unleaded averaging just $2.78 a gallon. Statewide, gas prices have dipped slightly—Georgians are now paying an average of $2.90 per gallon, down a penny from last week and 33 cents less than this time last year. It now costs around $43.50 to fill a 15-gallon tank, nearly five dollars less than a year ago. Nationally, gas prices are averaging $3.13, as crude oil remains steady and supply levels shift slightly due to lower demand and upcoming increases in OPEC+ production.
