Drivers in Northwest Georgia are enjoying some of the lowest gas prices in the state. The average price for regular unleaded in Catoosa, Dade, and Walker counties is just $2.75 per gallon, making it the cheapest metro area in Georgia.  Statewide, gas prices inched up just a penny over the past week, with Georgians now paying an average of $2.91 per gallon. That’s the same price as a month ago and 31 cents less than this time last year.  AAA reports it now costs about $43.65 to fill up a 15-gallon tank — nearly five dollars less than last summer.  Nationally, the average sits at $3.13 per gallon, holding steady for another week. AAA spokeswoman Montrae Waiters says crude oil prices remain stable, and with summer travel winding down, major jumps at the pump aren’t expected anytime soon.  However, as hurricane season ramps up, forecasters warn that storms could impact fuel production and supply in the coming weeks.
