LaFayette native Channing Wilson was on CBS-TV’s “The Road” last night. The music competition series pits country music artists performing original songs. The winner of the series gets a record deal among other prizes. One contestant was eliminated last night, so Channing and the remaining performers will be back on “The Road” next Sunday night at 9 on CBS.
The Walker County Board of Education meets tonight at 6 PM at its LaFayette headquarters. The agenda includes financial reports through August, a policy update, and a facilities update from the superintendent. The board will also vote on school trip contracts, a maintenance van purchase, and a no-cost agreement with Sandy Hook Promise. Personnel matters and public participation are also scheduled before the board heads into executive session.
The Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying a man involved in a road rage incident. On October 16th, a white male driving a pickup truck reportedly pointed a handgun at someone at the Mega Star gas station on Alabama Highway. An accident with a fatality happened yesterday in Chattooga County. The crash happened on Taylor Ridge Road. All lanes of Highway 27 were shut down as police and emergency crews worked the scene. We’ll have more news on the incident when the details are released.
LaFayette High School volleyball and softball teams continue their march through the post season. The volleyball team punched their ticket to the Elite 8 on Saturday with a win over Stephenson. The Ramblers now head to Augusta to face Richmond Academy on Wednesday. The action begins at 6:30pm. LaFayette softball returns to the diamond on Wednesday against Dawson County. First pitch for game one is set for 4pm. Game two will follow. Tickets are $12. If a game 3 is needed it will be played on Thursday.
