The Walker County Board of Education voted unanimously in a called meeting on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, to appoint Mr. Tobin Davidson as the system’s new Assistant Superintendent.

Davidson brings more than four decades of experience as an educator, coach, and school administrator. A graduate of Soddy-Daisy High School, he was a standout multi-sport athlete who helped lead the Trojans to their only baseball state championship. He continued his athletic and academic career at Cleveland State Community College, competing in baseball and basketball and helping guide the Cougars to a second-place finish in the JUCO World Series. He remains the winningest pitcher in Cleveland State history and was inducted into the college’s Hall of Fame in 2012.

After playing baseball at the University of Tennessee, Davidson completed his undergraduate degree at Shorter College in Rome, where he earned All-American honors as a baseball player.

Davidson began teaching in 1984 at Soddy-Daisy High School, where he taught math, chemistry, and physics and coached baseball, basketball, and cross-country. He later moved to Sale Creek Middle High School, where he taught science and continued coaching before transitioning into administration. He served as Assistant Principal and later Principal at Soddy-Daisy Middle School and then returned to Sale Creek as Principal, leading the school for 11 years. In recognition of his long service and positive impact, the Sale Creek football stadium was named the “Tobin Davidson Stadium and Sports Complex” in 2021.

Davidson joined Walker County Schools in 2020 as Assistant Principal at Rossville Middle School.

“Mr. Davidson loves all kids and is looking forward to working with all of Walker County’s students in his new role,” the school system said in its announcement.

His start date as Assistant Superintendent was not immediately released.
