Two Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) students have been named the first recipients of the newly established Jerry Jones Memorial Scholarship, created to support students pursuing careers in emergency medical services.

The scholarship provides financial assistance to students enrolled in the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Advanced EMT certificate programs, helping them advance their training and enter the field with fewer financial barriers.

The award honors the life and legacy of firefighter and EMT Jerry Jones, whose four-decade career touched countless lives across multiple Georgia fire departments. Jones served both as a volunteer and as a career firefighter, most recently retiring from the Fulton County Fire Department.

“This scholarship is a way to continue Jerry’s legacy of service and dedication,” said Jennifer Jones, ex-wife of Jerry Jones. “He devoted more than 40 years to helping others, and supporting the next generation of first responders is a meaningful way to remember him.”

The Jerry Jones Memorial Scholarship is expected to be awarded annually to deserving students who demonstrate commitment to serving their communities through emergency medical care.
