         Georgia District Attorney Clay Fuller of Lookout Mountain has officially entered the race for Georgia’s 14th Congressional District, seeking to replace Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene following her upcoming resignation.  Fuller says he is running after prayer and consultation with family and community leaders, pledging to support President Trump’s agenda. A military veteran, cancer survivor, and longtime prosecutor, Fuller points to border security, fentanyl enforcement, and public safety as key priorities.  He also says his campaign will focus on bringing manufacturing jobs back to Northwest Georgia communities and strengthening the local economy.
          Georgia Power says customers should see protection from higher electric bills after the Georgia Public Service Commission approved a major expansion plan this week.  The decision allows Georgia Power to add nearly 9,900 megawatts of new generation to meet growing demand across the state. Under an agreement with consumer advocates, increased costs from large industrial customers are expected to offset future expenses, equal to about eight-fifty per month for the average residential customer.  The plan follows a current base-rate freeze and comes as Georgia continues to see rapid economic and population growth statewide.
         Unseasonably warm weather is expected across the region this week, with Christmas Day shaping up to be one of the warmest on record. Forecasters say this Christmas could rank among the top five warmest ever locally.  On Christmas Day, mostly sunny skies are expected with highs near 74 degrees, approaching record territory.           A reminder this holiday week on special holiday hours.  The Walker County Animal Shelter will be closed tomorrow and Thursday.  The shelter will reopen on Friday from 10am-4pm.  It’s closed on Saturday.  City of LaFayette garbage pick up is happening.  Wednesday and Thursday garbage service is being collected today.
