CommonSpirit Health has officially opened the new CommonSpirit – Memorial Hospital – North Georgia, unveiling a 180,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art health care facility designed to expand access to advanced medical services for residents across the region.

Located at 4710 Battlefield Parkway, the new hospital opened Jan. 11, 2026. All inpatients from the former CHI Memorial Hospital Georgia campus have been transferred to the new location. The hospital’s first surgery was performed Jan. 12, with the first gastrointestinal procedure scheduled for Jan. 14.

Health system leaders say the new campus represents the fulfillment of a long-standing commitment to providing high-quality, patient-focused care close to home.

“This is more than just a building; it’s the realization of a long-standing commitment to the health and well-being of North Georgia,” said Angie Stiggins, administrator of CommonSpirit – Memorial Hospital – North Georgia. “Every aspect of this new hospital has been designed with patients in mind, combining advanced technology with a patient-centered approach to deliver exceptional care.”

The facility is designed as a “smart hospital,” integrating advanced technology, automation, and virtual care tools to support clinical decision-making, improve efficiency, and enhance patient safety.

Key features of the new hospital include 64 patient rooms, a 24-bed emergency department, an eight-bed intensive care unit, five operating rooms, and two endoscopy suites. The campus also offers comprehensive imaging services, a full-service laboratory, and a range of patient amenities, including a bistro-style dining area and a chapel.

Construction of the hospital was a large-scale effort involving extensive local collaboration. The project used more than 4,000 cubic yards of concrete and 100 tons of reinforcing steel, along with over 1,200 pieces of exterior glass. In total, the build required more than 375,000 man-hours to complete.

Hospital officials say the new campus strengthens Memorial Hospital’s role as a cornerstone of health care in the community, ensuring North Georgia residents have access to modern, comprehensive medical services in a single, centralized location.
