A Chickamauga man has been found guilty in two separate cases involving violent acts committed while he was incarcerated in the Catoosa County Jail.
Jeffrey Wade Anthony, 47, was convicted of Unlawful Acts of Violence in a Penal Institution following a non-jury trial in Catoosa County, according to the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office.
The first incident occurred on February 3, 2023, while Anthony was being held in the Catoosa County Jail for a probation violation. Prosecutors said surveillance video showed Anthony pushing another inmate into a corner. When the inmate attempted to push Anthony away, Anthony responded by punching him.
Anthony was later transferred to the Georgia Department of Corrections to serve his sentence for the probation violation. After completing that sentence, he was returned to the Catoosa County Jail to stand trial for the February 2023 jailhouse assault.
While awaiting trial, authorities said Anthony committed a second act of violence. On April 14, 2025, surveillance footage captured Anthony approaching a different inmate who was lying on his bunk and repeatedly punching him.
As a result of the convictions, Anthony was sentenced to 40 years in prison, with the first 15 years to be served in the Georgia Department of Corrections without the possibility of parole. Prosecutors cited Anthony’s extensive criminal history as a factor in the sentence.
