Senate Bill 148 would expand outdoor learning and hunter education in Georgia schools. Supporters say the program helps give students a well-rounded education through hands-on instruction. The bill would offer outdoor learning and hunter education for students in grades six through twelve. Classes would be taught by certified teachers or Georgia Hunter Educators. Lessons would include hunter safety, wildlife identification, tree stand safety, and fire zones. The measure also supports outdoor classroom spaces to introduce students to wildlife. If approved, the Georgia Department of Education would have until April first, twenty-twenty-six, to set standards for the program.
