The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Walker County, effective from 7:00 p.m. Friday through 7:00 p.m. Saturday, as a winter system moves into the region.
Forecasters expect snowfall totals ranging from 0.25 to 1 inch, with higher elevations possibly receiving up to 2 inches of accumulation. Temperatures are forecast to remain in the 20s, allowing any snowfall to quickly stick to roads, bridges, and other surfaces.
In addition to snow, gusty winds up to 35 miles per hour are expected, which could lead to areas of blowing snow and reduced visibility, particularly in open and elevated areas. Wind chills will make conditions feel even colder.
The National Weather Service warns that travel could become difficult, especially during periods of heavier snowfall and gusty winds. Motorists are urged to use caution, slow down, and allow extra time if travel is necessary.
Residents are encouraged to stay updated on weather conditions, prepare for cold temperatures, and avoid unnecessary travel during the advisory period.
