One Year Later, Search for Missing Walker County Man Timothy McSears Continues

Friday marks one year since a Walker County man vanished from his home, and the case remains unsolved despite an extensive investigation.

According to a press release from Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson, March 6, 2026 marks the one-year anniversary of the disappearance of Timothy McSears, who was last seen at his residence on McSears Drive in LaFayette on March 6, 2025.

McSears was officially reported missing two days later, on March 8, 2025. What initially began as a routine missing person’s report quickly developed into a large-scale investigation led by the Walker County Sheriff’s Office.

Over the past year, investigators have pursued hundreds of leads, conducted numerous interviews, and organized extensive land searches throughout Walker County and surrounding areas. Search teams, including volunteers, have combed wooded areas, fields, and remote properties looking for clues.

Despite those efforts, authorities say there has been no confirmed trace of McSears.

Investigators have also followed up on tips from the public, reviewed surveillance footage, and worked to reconstruct McSears’ final known movements. However, the case remains unresolved.

For McSears’ family, the one-year anniversary brings renewed grief as they continue to wait for answers and closure. Law enforcement officials say missing person cases can be especially challenging when there is little physical evidence, requiring each lead to be carefully evaluated and each search effort to be coordinated with significant manpower and resources.

In the LaFayette community, concern for the McSears family has remained strong. Flyers have circulated throughout the area, and social media posts about the case continue to resurface as the anniversary approaches.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is again urging anyone who may have seen suspicious activity near McSears Drive in early March of 2025, or who may have information that has not yet been reported, to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Brandon Barkley at 706-670-1953 or by email at [email protected]. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the Walker County Sheriff’s Office website.

A reward of up to $10,000, offered jointly by McSears’ family and the sheriff’s office, remains available for information that leads to the location of Timothy McSears.
