Walker County voters have one last chance to vote early today. Early voting in the County ends this afternoon at 5 p-m. Officials say anyone who has not yet cast a ballot can still take advantage of early voting before the deadline. If you miss early voting, Election Day is Tuesday. All precincts across the county will be open from 7 a-m until 7 p-m. If you are in line when the polls close you will still be allowed to vote.
Today marks one year since a Walker County man vanished from his home, and the case remains unsolved. According to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson, March sixth marks the one-year anniversary of the disappearance of Timothy McSears, who was last seen at his home on McSears Drive in LaFayette. He was reported missing two days later. Investigators with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office say they have followed hundreds of leads, conducted interviews, and organized large search efforts across the county and surrounding areas. Despite those efforts, there has been no confirmed trace of McSears. Authorities are again asking anyone with information to come forward. A reward of up to ten-thousand dollars remains available for information that helps locate him.
The Walker County Animal Shelter is asking the community for help as supplies run low. Shelter staff say their most urgent need right now is cardboard litter boxes, which are used by the dozens each week. They’re also asking for donations of paper lunch bags used for animal enrichment activities. With warmer weather approaching, the shelter is also looking for plastic kiddie pools for dog play yards so the animals can splash and cool off during the summer months. Donations can be dropped off at the shelter Monday through Saturday from 10 a-m until 4 p-m, or left at the gate after hours.
