The Walker County Board of Education has announced a series of June meetings focused on the district’s fiscal year 2027 budget. A budget work session is set for today at 5 p.m. at the Advancing Education Center in Chickamauga. Budget hearings will be held June 9 and June 15, with the Board’s Planning Session on June 9 and Regular Session on June 15. The Walker County Sheriff’s Office and Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office are teaming up for a friendly competition that could help save lives. A community blood drive is scheduled for June 25 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Walker County Sheriff’s Office. Organizers hope to collect donations from at least 85 people. Walk-ins are welcome, and donors will receive a $25 e-gift card. Appointments are also available for those who wish to schedule ahead.
Early voting for the 2026 General Primary Runoff begins next Monday and continues through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Walker County Elections Office in LaFayette and the Chickamauga Civic Center. Election Day is June 16. Officials remind voters who participated in a party primary must vote in the same party’s runoff, while those who skipped the primary may choose either ballot.
