          Tomorrow is election day in Walker County.  The polls will be open from 7am to 7pm tomorrow.  You’ll need to vote at your assigned precinct.
          Yesterday’s storms left several without power in Walker County.  Crews worked throughout the night to restore power.  We continue to update the outnumbers on our Facebook page.  Find us on Facebook at DiscoverWalker.com.
          The City of LaFayette’s 2026 road paving project is now underway.  Contractors have started work on Anthony Street, with paving planned for several additional roads, including Pledger Street, Johnson Street, Trail Lake, Duke Street, and Foster Boulevard.  The project is funded through TSPLOST, along with the Georgia Department of Transportation’s Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant program, which provides state funding for local road improvements.
          The Walker County Board of Education will hold a Budget Hearing today at 5:00 p.m., followed by the regular  monthly meeting at 6:00 p.m. at the Department of Education Building in LaFayette.  The hearing will focus on the proposed Fiscal Year 2027 budget before the board considers action during the regular session.  The meeting agenda also includes a financial report, superintendent and facilities updates, and consideration of numerous agreements involving student services, technology, school nutrition, and instructional programs.  The meetings will be held at 301 North Cherokee Street in LaFayette. The public is invited to attend.
          The Walker County Animal Shelter is asking for community support as it works to provide care and supplies for the animals currently in its care. Shelter officials say donations from local residents continue to make a difference, but several items are urgently needed for the dogs and cats.  Donations can be dropped off at the shelter at any time by leaving items safely at the gate.  Residents can also help through the shelter’s Amazon Wishlist, which includes needed supplies. Officials say every donation helps provide food, comfort, and care for animals waiting for their forever homes.
          The latest Walker County Restaurant Report shows an 85 for the Huddle House in Chickamauga.  The Vienna Bier Garten in LaFayette scored a 100.  It’s a 97 for the Station House in LaFayette.  You can view the complete restaurant report on DiscoverWalker.com.
