Drivers in Walker and Catoosa counties are seeing some of the lowest gas prices in Georgia as fuel costs continue to decline statewide, according to the latest report from AAA – The Auto Club Group.
The Catoosa-Walker market is currently averaging $3.57 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline, making it the least expensive metro market in Georgia. Dalton was the next lowest at $3.61 per gallon, followed by Brunswick at $3.63.
The lower prices come as Georgia motorists continue to receive relief at the pump. The statewide average price for regular gasoline has dropped 8 cents over the past week and 25 cents over the past month. Despite the recent decline, prices remain 90 cents higher than they were at this time last year.
AAA spokeswoman Montrae Waiters said lower crude oil prices have helped push fuel costs downward, though the future remains uncertain.
“Gas prices in Georgia continue to decline, largely due to crude oil prices remaining below $100 per barrel; however, it’s unclear how long this trend will last, especially given ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East,” Waiters said. “With that in mind, the best approach is for drivers to stay mindful of fuel costs and look for ways to save at the pump whenever possible.”
For motorists filling a standard 15-gallon tank, the average cost in Georgia is approximately $56.40.
Nationally, the average price for regular gasoline stands at $4.07 per gallon, marking the third consecutive week of declines. While lower crude oil prices have helped ease costs, ongoing concerns about the Strait of Hormuz and rising summer travel demand continue to influence the market.
Georgia’s most expensive metro markets are Savannah at $3.87 per gallon, Macon at $3.86, and Atlanta at $3.77.
As summer travel season ramps up, drivers in Walker and Catoosa counties are benefiting from some of the most affordable fuel prices in the state, providing welcome savings for commuters, families, and vacation travelers alike.
