The Walker County Board of Education will meet Monday, September 21, with several capital projects, school purchases and agreements on the agenda.
The board’s regular session is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Walker County Department of Education Building, located at 301 North Cherokee Street in LaFayette.
The meeting will begin with special recognition of a Master 4-H’er and the presentation of the annual 4-H report.
Board members are also scheduled to receive a facilities update and the superintendent’s report before moving into action items.
Among the individual action items is an application for approval of Five Year Capital Planning Projects. The board will also consider an ESPLOST-funded purchase of a new wrestling mat for LaFayette High School.
Another proposed ESPLOST project would provide a combo field parking pad at Ridgeland High School.
Several additional matters are included on the consent agenda, including a change order for HVAC renovations at Gilbert Elementary School. That work is also being funded through ESPLOST.
The consent agenda includes approval of a Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Grant and an RFP for a ware washing, safety and sanitation system. Board members will also consider a statement of work with Hamilton Medical Center for its Mobile Mammography Unit for Fiscal Year 2027 and an operational agreement with the Northwest Georgia Network for Educational and Therapeutic Support, or GNETS.
A number of school contracts and agreements are also scheduled for consideration.
Those include agreements involving Apex Events for a Rock Spring Elementary fundraiser; DreamBox Learning, GoGuardian and Pear Deck Learning, and Planbook for LaFayette Middle School; IXL Learning for several schools; Premier Transportation for Saddle Ridge K-8 School; and a Scholastic Book Fair at North LaFayette Elementary.
Other agreements involve So Gracious Art & Gifts for a North LaFayette Elementary fundraiser, the Tennessee Aquarium for the LaFayette High School prom, and the UTC Recreation Aquatic Center for Gilbert Elementary and Saddle Ridge K-8 School.
The board will also consider minutes from its August 11 planning session and its August 17 tax levy and regular meetings.
The agenda concludes with new business, public participation, an executive session and personnel recommendations before adjournment.
