The Walker County Development Authority will hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, October 13, with several financial matters and a proposed property transfer on the agenda.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Walker County Civic Center, located at 10052 North Highway 27 in Rock Spring.

One of the key items on the agenda is authorization for the authority’s chairman to execute a quitclaim deed involving tax map parcel 03273 052.

The parcel is part of a previously approved property exchange between Walker County and the Development Authority to support the relocation of Walker County Fire Rescue headquarters and Fire Station 1.

Under the arrangement approved by the Walker County Board of Commissioners earlier this month, the county would acquire approximately 5.21 acres at the corner of Old Highway 27 and Fields Drive in the Northwest Georgia Business and Industrial Park. In exchange, the Development Authority would receive approximately 1.83 acres at Highway 27 and Bicentennial Trail, where Fire Station 1 is currently located.

The Development Authority will also consider an amendment to its fiscal year 2026 budget and review the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget.

Other agenda items include a financial report, an update from the executive director and consideration of minutes from the September 8 meeting.

The agenda also allows for an executive session if needed.

The meeting is scheduled to conclude following consideration of all agenda items.
