President Donald Trump is scheduled to return to northwest Georgia Friday for a campaign rally in Dalton. The rally is set for Dalton Municipal Airport, with doors opening at 11:30 Friday morning and Trump scheduled to speak at 3 p.m. The visit comes as Georgia voters begin early voting ahead of the November election. Trump’s Dalton appearance will be his third visit to Georgia this year. Motorists in and around Dalton should also expect increased traffic and possible delays Friday due to the presidential visit and additional security.
Georgia voters will have more than candidates to consider when they head to the polls this fall. Three proposed amendments to the state Constitution will appear on the November third ballot. One would double the amount of qualifying farmland and timberland eligible for a property tax benefit, from 2,000 to 4,000 acres. Another would require Georgia probate judges to be elected in nonpartisan races. The third would allow certain state revenues to be dedicated to emergency 9-1-1 services and technology upgrades. Voters will decide each amendment separately with a yes or no vote. Early voting begins Tuesday and continues through October 30.
