A flood watch is in effect for north Georgia. That includes all of Walker County. The flood watch is in effect until Thursday morning. We could see anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of rain. A representative from the office of Lt. Governor Burt Jones will be in Walker County today. Luke Hetland will be at the Walker County Civic Center from 2pm-4pm. Hetland will talk with community members who have questions or concerns regarding legislation or are facing issues with state agencies. If you plan to drop by today, you will need to RSVP in advance. The Walker County School Board will have a planning session today. The meeting is set for 6pm at the Advancing Education Center on Osburn Road in Chickamauga. Among the items on the agenda for today, the lease agreement on the old central office location and the purchase of four activity buses. A facility update and a financial review will also be given.

A pedestrian was struck last night in Trion. The accident happened on Highway 27 and Harrell Street. The pedestrian was transported by LifeForce to the hospital. The victims’ condition has not been released. Both northbound lanes of 27 were closed for a while last night due to the accident.

Justin Lee Rackler was arrested Sunday morning and booked into the Walker County Detention Center. Rackler was charged with possession of meth and a suspended license. The complete arrest report is available at DiscoverWalker.com.

Regional basketball action from last night at LaFayette High School. In the boys bracket – Heritage topped Ridgeland 66-56. On the girls side the Lady Ramblers scored a run away win over Ridgeland, 58-26. The Lady Ramblers are back in action tonight. They will travel to Heritage to face the Generals. Tip-off is set for 7:30pm. Chris Barnett will bring you the action on Georgia 93-7. The pre-game show will start at approximately 7:20. The LaFayette boys will play in the tournament starting tomorrow night. LaFayette will be at Northwest Whitfield with a tip off time of 6pm. LaFayette wrestling is headed to the sectionals of the state wrestling tournament. The team is leaving for Gainesville on Friday at 5:30pm. The community is invited to come down to the square and send the team off. The wrestling starts at 9am on Saturday morning.
