The political fight in Catoosa County continues as Republican leaders have filed a motion for a temporary injunction and restraining order against the Catoosa County Board of Elections and Voter Registration. The document requests the four candidates – Jeff Long, Vanita Hullander, Larry Black and Steven Henry – be removed from the Republican party primary ballot. The lawsuit comes after the Catoosa County Board of Elections and Voter Registration upheld a Walker County judge’s ruling to allow the four candidates on the ballot. In the lawsuit, the GOP said the Board of Elections violated their rights by forcing the candidates on the Republican Party primary ballot.
The Walker County Detention Center reported 8 felony arrests on Monday. 28-year old Ashton Leighamn Spears was charged with possession of marijuana and other drug related charges. 47-year-old Charles Thomas Hegwood was booked on aggravated assault charges. Dallas Ronnie Collins, 52-years-old was charged with possession of meth and driving without a license. 43-year-old Anthony Juan Griggs faces possession with intent to distribute. 32-year-old Crystal Dale Randals was arrested and booked on charges of trafficking meth, possession of meth with the intent to distribute. 45-year-old Chadwick Dewayne Rhudy faces charges of theft, possession of meth along with other charges.
The Walker County Board of Education will hold a Town Hall meeting tonight at LaFayette High School. The meeting starts at 5:45pm.
According to Triple-A, gas prices in Georgia are up a penny from last week. State wide the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gas is $3.33. Nationwide the price of gas has jumped 6-cents in the last week. It’s now $3.59.
