A Rossville nursing home has reopened under a new name and has new ownership. Mary and Martha’s Personal Care in Rossville is back open under the name Ridge Manor. It’s the third location for Ridge Manor with the nearest location being in Calhoun. Mary and Martha’s Personal Care shut down in March of last year when a staffing shortage and financial issues forced the previous owners to close. The facility officially opened last week and has three residents.

Members of the Catoosa County GOP are asking to delay early voting in the May election while the case of whether to keep four candidates on the ballot is reviewed. Twelve electors filed a petition to appeal the Catoosa County Election Board’s decision to allow four candidates qualify for the republican ticket. Those electors are requesting a “Motion for Stay” of the election so that there’s time for the case to be reviewed. Right now, early voting starts on April 29th.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is raising awareness this week on work zone safety. The spring and summer months are considered the best seasons for highway work. During National Work Zone Awareness Week, GDOT is spreading the message about distracted driving. GDOT is also asking folks to support National Work Zones Awareness by wearing orange on Wednesday.

Gas prices in Georgia continue to climb. According to Triple-A, the average cost of a gallon of regular unleaded is now $3.43. That’s 10-cents more than last week and up 60-cents compared to last year. The national average is even higher at $3.63 a gallon.
